Apart from the rain, the traffic, the ticks and the Pancosmic Pyromantics the Lake District was beautiful.
Wastwater. We went walking here. Daughter number 5. submerged her pink sandals in a bog.
Ambleside. Lots of traffic.
More Ambleside – became an outdoor clothing expert here. Why do all the walkers wear short waterproof sausage skin coats that leave them dripping wet from the waist down. Did not see a single pair of waterproof trousers in action .
This day was a washout … And we followed an AA sign to a wildlife photography exhibition. Unfortunately after following it for about 20 miles we ended up a mile from where we’d been an hour and a half before and missed the exhibition by a couple of minutes. Bad signposting!!
We saved the day with ferry ride from Hawkshead to Windemere back to the Yurt and the ticks.
And we did have to use this impulse purchase. More on that later.
We spent a disproportionate amount of time in sodden playgrounds wiping slides and pushing swings.
And that was that. Goodbye wet Lake District…
